The "candidates" listed in the guide were represented by the colored tiles found at the base of the flagpole where the puzzle was placed. This was one of the few puzzles in Genome that used the location as an integral part of the puzzle itself. The first step in solving this puzzle is to determine which "candidate" (tile) is paired with which other "candidate" (tile). This requires looking carefully at the base of the flagpole and noting which tiles are adjacent to each other. Here is how the tiles are paired. This gives pairings on the ballot of AH, BN, CD, EI, FG, JX, KS, LW, MO, PR, QU, TY, and VZ. The next step is to fill in the ballot using the paired candidate information according to the instructions (using only horizontal and vertial lines, connect each pair with a single path without any paths intersecting). This can be a bit tricky (try it!), but eventually, the ballot can be filled in, |

| Now it's time to actually vote with the voting booth! Putting the completed ballot into the voting booth reveals that the two spaces not covered are numbered 9 and 35. This is in fact the solution to the puzzle. Only one team had trouble figuring out that 9 and 35 represents the intersection of Hwy 9 and Hwy 35. |
