Puzzle Location: Angel Island
Next Puzzle: Stars

When teams arrived on Angel Island, they should have solved (or been close to solving) the strips puzzle, which tells them where to meet a Genodix employee on the island. Once they've found this person, they are given a wristband and a set of instructions regarding how to play a set of four small games.

Game 1: Cars  (Solution)

Here is what the game board looks like. The filled black circles represent the challenger's "cars" and the open circles repsent those of the Genodix employee.

The objective of this game is to get your "cars" (in this case coins) off of the game board. Black cars can move right, up, or down, and must exit the board on the right side. White cars can move up, right, or left, and must exit the board at the top edge. No two pieces can share the same spot, moves cannot be diagonal, and the black (white) pieces can't go to the left (down). The challenger always moves first, and the Genodix employee moves second.

Game 2: Words  (Solution)

Players were presented with a set of 3x5 index cards laying on a picnic table. Each card had a single word written on it. The words were:

HOT
FORM
WOES
TANK
HEAR
WASP
TIED
BRIM
SHIP

The players take turns selecting a card from the table, with the goal of being the first player to obtain a set of cards where three words share a common letter. The challenger (game team) always moved first, and the Genodix employee second.

Game 3: Matchsticks  (Solution)

The players were presented with three piles of matchsticks. The first pile contained five matches, the second seven matches, and the third pile had nine matches. Players were allowed to take any number of matches from any one pile during their turn. The goal of the game was to be the player who took the last match. The challenger (game team) always moved first, and the Genodix employee second.

Game 4: Dots  (Solution)

The players were presented with a 4 x 4 grid of dots.

Players take turns drawing lines connecting pairs of adjacent dots. The side that closes the last side of a box claims it. When a box is claimed, the player claiming the box must move again. The game ends when all of the lines are drawn and therefore all 9 boxes have been claimed. The challenger (game team) was required to win at least four boxes, and was required to move first.
