This is the first puzzle given to teams at the start of the game. When the William Genter character (the CEO of Genodix, Inc.) finishes his speech to the teams, he tells them to find renegade scientist Carl Pauling, who was last seen driving north on Hwy 101. Upon leaving the start location, teams are given their "new employee" packet which includes a page with the instructions:
Drive North. Pay attention. Do not hold up traffic.
Teams who headed north on Hwy 101 from the Cesar Chavez (Army Street) entrance were able to see something on a couple of the overpasses...
